Healthy Habits

Part of your responsibility as a parent, is to teach your children how to lead healthy lives. The best time to start teaching these lesson to children how to lead a healthy lives. The best time to start teaching these lesson to children is when they are young, before unhealthy choice become life long bad habits. When you want to pass on healthy habits to your kids, it’s important to practice what you preach. Just tell your kids what to do won’t necessary work they need to see you choosing healthy behavior too.



Ensure proper nutrition (eating 3 meals a day or two nutritive snacks limiting high sugar and high fat foods eating fruits, vegetables and low fat dairy products.
Exercise – regular exercise should be done to maintain healthy body.
Sleep – daily 10-11 hours each night
Participate in extracaricular activities
Limit television viewing and encourage reading and story telling.
Practice food safety – wash fruits and vegetables before consuming .
Brush teeth with a fluoride toothpaste twice a day and have your child seen regularly by a dentist.
Prepare your child for puberty and sexual development.
It is important to begin communicating with your child to help to prevent them from picking up bad habits.
Self hygiene- wash the hands before and after the food and after going to toilets. Use of tissue or hand kerchief while you sneeze or cough. Good bathroom habits should be taught.
